The Center for Pain Management at North Shore Medical Center is committed to improving the quality of life for individuals who suffer from chronic pain, through interventional pain procedures and collaborative efforts with mental health, substance use, physical medicine and rehabilitation, Wellness alternative therapies, and orthopedic and spine surgery. Conveniently located on the Salem campus, our pain specialists use leading-edge technology to help patients find the relief they need. We are staffed by Massachusetts General Hospital pain medicine and anesthesiology physicians. Appointments by physician referral only.

About Our Physicians


Maximilian Hsia-Kiung, MD, is a specialist in chronic pain management and anesthesiology. Dr. Hsia's clinical interests include chronic back pain, complex regional pain syndrome, spinal cord stimulation, headache and facial pain.

Nathan Hutson, MD, joins NSMC as an interventional pain management anesthesiologist. Dr. Hutson's training and experience in pain management includes Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Hospital for Special Surgery, and Weill Cornell Medical Center.
