Annual Conferences

North Shore Medical Center is dedicated to the professional development of all NSMC nursing staff. Four annual conferences provide an opportunity for NSMC nurses to expand their clinical knowledge and enhance their nursing practice.

Cardiovascular Nursing Conference   

The Cardiovascular Nursing Conference is held annually in the month of February. It features contemporary cardiovascular topics presented by local and national interdisciplinary experts. View details of the most recent conference

Medical Surgical Nursing Conference   

Frederica Preston, NP, RNC, AOCN, of the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center, will cover targeted therapies for cancer. Additional commentary is by Lisa Cavallaro, BSN, RN, Nurse Manager of NSMC Birthplace, who is a cancer survivor. In addition there will be presentations on compassion fatigue, understanding transgender identities, and a mock trial called Failure to Rescue.  View details of the most recent conference  


Psychiatric Nursing Conference

This conference educates nurses across all North Shore Medical Center patient care areas about psychiatric issues impacting nursing practice. Topics are selected from nursing surveys, as well as current issues in mental health nursing and their relevance to patient-centered care.

Trauma Conference   

Using a mobile trauma simulation lab, this conference highlights the team approach to trauma care, and delineates roles and expectations. Concepts in the management of trauma patients are woven throughout the day. Next conference will be in 2017.
