Child Abuse Assessment

The child protection team at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary consultation, assessment, treatment and referral services for children and adolescents who may have been physically or sexually abused or neglected. Sensitive care is provided by dedicated clinicians to help the hospital and community identify, treat and console child abuse victims and their families.

Child Abuse Assessment Program

Our Child Abuse Assessment Program provides integrated support services in cases of suspected child maltreatment. The program includes four key services:

  • Medical examinations by trained, supportive medical personnel.
  • Consultation and support for hospital personnel, community physicians, allied health professionals, and others.
  • Case coordination, including psychosocial evaluation for referrals to counseling, brief treatment as needed, community services and material resources, anticipatory planning, advocacy, and follow-up tracking.
  • Collaboration with the Essex County District Attorney, local police, and the Department of Social Services

Our offices are located inside the NSMC Medical Administration Offices on the 2nd floor of the Gloria Wallace Building.
