ADHD Parent Support Groups

Parents support and guide one another through the challenges of parenting children with behavioral, social and educational issues. Group meets in the Family Resource Center at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center (4th floor), four week series, 11am - 12 noon spring and fall with sufficient interest. Click here to register or call 978.354.2670 for more information.  $40 registration fee.

Bipolar Disorder Parent Support Group

Parents share strategies, resources and support with other parents of a child or adolescent with Bipolar Disorder.  Meets the first Wednesday of every month, 12 - 1:30 p.m., in the Family Resource Center at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center (4th floor).  FREE

Depression Group for TEENS

Teen support group to talk about all issues of depression without judgement.  Three part series facilitated by Cathy Goldstein-Mullin, LICSW.  Meets in the Family Resource Center at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center (4th floor).  Call 978.354.2670 for more information.  $30 registration fee.

Depression Group for ADULTS

A support and sills group for depressed adults ready and willing to fight the beast of Depression. Meets in the FRC MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center (4th Floor) Thursday's 6:15-7:15 p.m. three week series with sufficient interest. Registration necessary. $30 registration fee.

Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Group

A free support group for grandparents raising grandchildren. Group meets the first and third Monday of the month from 11 – 12 noon in the Family Resource Center at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center (4th floor). G.R.A.S.P. Grief Recovery after a substance passing, GRASP North Shore

This peer group is open to anyone who has lost a family member or loved one to fatal overdose. Meets the first Thursday of the month, 7 - 8:30 p.m., at 55 Highland Avenue (Highland Hall) , in the auditorium on the ground floor. Call 781.593.5224 or email with questions.  FREE

Learn to Cope North Shore

This peer family support group is for adults living with a loved one with a drug addiction. Group meets every Thursday from 7 –8:30 p.m. in the Davenport 102A conference room at NSMC Salem Hospital (1st floor, go in the rear entrance, Jefferson Avenue).  Contact Joanne Peterson at 508.801.3247 or visit their web site.  There is no registration or fee.

Maintain your Practice

Sunday sessions for those interested in refreshing mindfulness practices (see also Mindfulness for Children next in the list, as well as Stress Reduction clinics lower in this list). Yoga and guided meditation. Meets in the Healing Atrium at NSMC Union Hospital.  Pre-registration appreciated; nominal drop-in fee of $10 -   Donations welcome.

Developing in collaboration with the OCD Foundation and McLean's Hospital; a monthly educational series onOCD with a support group to follow. Will meet 3rd Wednesday of the month beginning at 7 p.m. in Davenport 102A, NSMC Salem Hospital  (FREE)

Parents Helping Parents

Parent to parent support, which follows the statewide model.  Group meets weekly on Tuesdays, 10:30 - 12 noon at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center (4th floor). Sibling Support Program

Sibshop is a recreational peer support program for siblings (ages 8-13) with a brother or sister with any developmental, behavioral or medical health disorder. Meets at the Peabody Institute Library in Danvers.  Call 978.354.2660 for dates and information. $15 registration fee.

Stress Reduction Clinic Programs

Training and practice in mindfulness, meditation, and mindful hatha yoga.  Adult groups meet Wednesdays, 6 - 8:30 p.m. on the first floor of  MassGeneral/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care . Children groups meet Thursdays 4:30-6pm in the Medical Library at Salem Hospital.  Adults pay a fee of $375, Children $120. Discounts and scholarships are available. Call 978.354.2670 to register.
