Multidisciplinary Evaluation
The Multidisciplinary Evaluation Center (MDEC) at MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center provides comprehensive evaluation and follow-up services for patients with learning, developmental, behavioral or psychological problems. A multidisciplinary assessment includes evaluations by experts in one or more of the following disciplines: audiology, neurology, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech and language.

Common Reasons for a Multidisciplinary Evaluation
- Language and communication delays
- Motor issues
- Behavioral issues
- Symptoms indicative of Autism, PDD, Asperger’s Disorder
- Learning disabilities
- Attentional concerns
- Mental retardation
- Emotional difficulties
- Developmental delays
Referrals
A referral can be made by parents, primary care providers, mental health providers, schools, neurologists, or by any concerned health care provider. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
