When Roger Lambert of Winthrop was diagnosed with prostate cancer, he turned immediately to NSMC Cancer Center
, which has a unique partnership with Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. "I never even thought about going to another facility," he recalls. "NSMC had the right treatment in the right place." About $15 million has been raised for the NSMC Cancer Center, through private donations to NSMC's annual Cancer WALK
Some of the money raised has helped bring exciting new technology to the Center, including a linear accelerator that precisely targets radiation and spares healthy tissue. Roger was one of the lucky ones to benefit from this technology. Because of these donations, Roger was able to explore all of his treatment options - including the most advanced therapy available - when making a decision about his treatment. After two months of radiation treatment, Roger is fully recovered and fully satisfied with his choice for cancer care. "No one wants to go through anything like this," he says, "but when I had to, I was glad to have NSMC on my side."
