NSMC Primary Care Physician Receives Award for Innovation
3/22/2012

NSMC physician, Craig Grimes, M.D., received the Primary Care Award for Innovation at the Fourth Annual Partners HealthCare Primary Care Recognition Dinner on Thursday, March 15, 2012.

Dr. Grimes, who practices internal medicine at North Shore Physicians Group’s 496 Lynnfield Street office in Lynn, was recognized by his colleagues for his innovations in creating a more efficient practice. Dr. Grimes, along with a team of caregivers and physicians, implemented a new work-flow model, allowing patients more time with their physicians and the ability to answer patient requests faster than ever before.

“Together with my team of physicians, nurses and staff we have changed our office flow and have streamlined the way we work. We now have additional staff time to manage appointments, patient call backs and record keeping so that physicians can be more available to patients,” said Dr. Grimes. “This new time-saving approach allows us to spend more time with patients, get results back to patients faster and improve the overall patient experience. As providers we feel that we are able to treat patients more effectively and are giving the best care possible.”

Dr. Grimes’s is also part of North Shore Physicians Group's (NSPG) newest approach to managing patient care, called the patient-centered medical home. This new multi-disciplinary model brings together a team of caregivers including primary care physicians, specialists, nurses and social workers who treat patients as a team while coordinating all the care a patient may need.

Dr. Grimes has been part of NSPG for 10 years. He is board certified in internal medicine and attended New York Medical College and completed a residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
