NSMC has developed a host of collaborative programs with Massachusetts General Hospital, as well as with other members of the Partners HealthCare, Inc. network, including Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana Farber.

Outpatient Surgery*

Our newest collaboration will be the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care, currently under construction in Danvers, MA (read blog). This sleek, modern facility will open in the spring of 2009 and offer more sophisticated services than any existing or proposed outpatient facility in the region. The center will provide the latest in cardiac diagnostics, suites for outpatient and minimally invasive surgery, and advanced imaging services, as well as serve as the expanded home of the new MGH/NSMC Cancer Center, a comprehensive cancer care center. Cardiac care

NSMC Heart Center is a collaborative effort between North Shore Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. It is the only comprehensive heart center on the North Shore with fully integrated cardiac services including angioplasty (percutaneous coronary intervention) and advanced cardiac surgery. Our wide range of clinical services also includes electrophysiology, heart failure program, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac risk reduction and support groups. Our surgeons hold joint appointments at Massachusetts General Hospital and NSMC.    

In 2001, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts selected NSMC as one of only three community hospitals, and the only one on the North Shore, to perform cardiac surgery and angioplasty. This distinction was based on two important factors: our history of exceptional cardiac care and our long-standing collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital.

Pediatrics

NSMC North Shore Children's Hospital is a community affiliate of MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC). Our inpatient unit and dedicated pediatric emergency department are staffed by jointly appointed NSMC and MGHfC staff. All care at NSMC North Shore Children's Hospital is managed by NSMC/MGHfC staff, with daily teleconferences held between the two facilities to review complex cases with key specialists.

Through this powerful collaboration we are able to offer common standards and protocols, as well as a network of subspecialists on staff at MGHfC. 

Cancer care

The NSMC Cancer Center is affiliated with Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare, which includes Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. As a result, we are able to bring to the North Shore technologies and treatments previously available only in Boston.

In addition, our longstanding collaboration with the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center continues to deepen and bring new programs and services to the community. Together, we uphold the highest standards of care and work to ensure that our patients receive the most up-to-date treatments and research advances.

Collaborations with Brigham and Women's Hospital

NSMC also offers several programs in collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The Brigham and Women's Hospital Center for Reproductive Medicine at NSMC is located at The NSMC Women's Center in Davners, and is fully integrated with the Center for Reproductive Medicine at BWH. The services of the BWH Maternal Fetal Medicine program are also available through the NSMC Women's Center. Staffed by BWH perinatologists, the NSMC Maternal Fetal  program focuses on prenatal diagnosis and management of high-risk pregnancy.
