NSMC has developed a host of collaborative programs with Massachusetts General Hospital.

Outpatient Care

Our newest collaboration is the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers, MA.

This pristine, modern facility offers more sophisticated services than any other outpatient facility in the region, including the latest in outpatient and minimally invasive surgery, cardiac diagnostics, and advanced imaging services. It also serves as the home of the new Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center.  

Cancer care

The Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center provides unparalleled cancer care to North Shore patients. Our physicians and nursing care teams are nationally recognized for their expertise in all aspects of breast, prostate, lung, skin and digestive disease cancer care,  and bring the latest advances in the field to screening, diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment, prevention and rehabilitation.

Cardiac care

NSMC Heart Center is a collaborative effort between North Shore Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital. It is the only comprehensive heart center on the North Shore with fully integrated cardiac services including angioplasty (percutaneous coronary intervention) and advanced cardiac surgery. Our wide range of clinical services includes electrophysiology, heart failure program, cardiac rehabilitation, cardiac risk reduction and support groups. Our surgeons hold joint appointments at Massachusetts General Hospital and NSMC.    

We also provide general consultative cardiology and diagnostic cardiac testing such as ultrasound, EKG, echocardiography, Holter/events monitoring, nuclear cardiology and treadmill stress testing at the Mass General?North Shore Center for Outpatient Care.

Pediatrics

NSMC North Shore Children's Hospital is a community affiliate of MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC). Our inpatient unit and dedicated pediatric emergency department are staffed by jointly appointed NSMC and MGHfC staff. All care at NSMC North Shore Children's Hospital is managed by NSMC/MGHfC staff, with daily teleconferences held between the two facilities to review complex cases with key specialists.

Through this powerful collaboration we are able to offer common standards and protocols, as well as a network of subspecialists on staff at MGHfC. 

Thoracic surgery

NSMC's Thoracic Surgery service includes a North Shore practice of the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Division of Thoracic Surgery. This practice offers a level of care unparalled in the North Shore community, including minimally invasive and traditional approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of cancerous and benign disorders of lungs, trachea, esophagus, chest wall, diaphragm and mediastinum.  Through this unique partnership with MGH, NSMC is able to offer patients on the North Shore access to some of the nation's foremost experts in treating complex thoracic disease.

Neurosurgery

A Massachusetts General Hospital neurosurgeon is also on staff at an NSMC practice. He provides expert surgical treatment for patients with disorders affecting the brain, spine, spinal cord and nervous system. Working closely with NSMC Neurosurgery colleagues and physiatrists (pain treatment), he provides comprehensive neurosurgery service to North Shore patients.
