About NSMC

Partners HealthCare System, Inc., (PHS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1994 by Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Its mission is to provide integrated, high-quality health care and to enhance healthcare quality and value.

Partners membership benefits:

  • Standardized medical care between hospitals
  • Faster, more precise communication through technology
  • Teaching hospital input
  • Participation in clinical research trials
  • Community outreach support

There are many advantages to NSMC’s membership in Partners HealthCare System, Inc. We are one of several exceptional hospitals within the system, along with Newton-Wellesley Hospital, McLean Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, and Shaughnessy Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital, as well as community health centers, rehabilitation and home care services, and primary care and specialty physicians.

Our physicians and staff are part of an extraordinary network of expertise and information. This talent is available to our patients in many ways, including through clinical collaboration, state-of-the-art technology and joint research efforts.

Technological Innovations

Advanced technology networks have revolutionized the quality of patient care in the United States. NSMC benefits from several proprietary systems created by Partners HealthCare System, Inc.

Lifetime Clinical Record

NSMC physicians are able to call up a patient’s Lifetime Clinical Record during an inpatient stay to review diagnostic test results, medical history and more.

Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOM)

Computerized Provider Order Entry enables physicians to place medication, testing or treatment orders electronically – an advance that dramatically reduces medication and treatment errors.

Longitudinal Medical Record (LMR)

The LMR replaces the physician’s paper office chart with an electronic version. This means that physicians can access secure clinical data from any site within the Partners network. Patients now have much greater choice about where to have schedule an appointment or book a procedure, since physicians within the network can now safely access critical information.
