How To Help
The Best Care, Right Place Campaign has recently achieved spectacular milestones.

One June 1, 2009, the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care opened it's doors to the public. The pristine, modern facility offers more sophisticated services than any other outpatient facility in the region, including the latest in outpatient and minimally invasive surgery, cardiology diagnostics, a full-service Breast Health Center, Labs, and a range of advanced imaging services. It also serves as the home of the new Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center, a comprehensive cancer care center.  The Center enjoys sweeping views of protected wetlands and a healing garden.  You can learn more about the Center at the www.massgeneralnorthshore.org web site.

The Best Care, Right Place campaign includes renovations to update facilities and improve the patient experience at the NSMC Salem Hospital campus, many of which have been completed.

Two floors of the Phippen building have been remodeled into 32 private rooms for primarily orthopedic, neurosurgery and neurology patients. The rooms feature private bathrooms with showers, individual temperature controls, wireless Internet and window seats that convert to a sleeping area for family members. Comfortable waiting rooms also have been added to three patient floors.

The new Breast Health Center, located on Phippen 4 at NSMC Salem Hospital, has been open since early 2009.

It features spa-like ambiance with a private registration and waiting area, patient interview rooms, two all-digital mammography screening units, an ultrasound unit and stereotactic needle biopsy capabilities for advanced diagnostics.

Our comprehensive Breast Health services include digital screening mammography at NSMC Union Hospital in Lynn and at the NSMC Women’s Center in Danvers, as well as breast MRI services in Peabody.

In addition, there is a new Breast Health Center now open at the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care. It focuses on patients who require advanced diagnostic screening following a diagnosis of breast cancer. It offers digital mammography, breast MRI, breast ultrasound, and stereotactic needle biopsy. It also offers genetic screening, outpatient breast surgery and a new staff position called patient navigator to support patients as they navigate treatment.

Work is currently underway on the next phase of the renovations—a new 20-bed Intensive Care Unit and an expanded Level II Special Care Nursery.
