Peabody, Mass. – North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) Magnetic Imaging is enhancing breast MRI examinations at its Centennial Drive location in Peabody through the use of new technology. NSMC recently added a Sentinelle Vanguard breast MRI table which improves comfort for the patients of all sizes.
NSMC Magnetic Imaging is equipped with the latest MRI technology for breast imaging. The new MRI breast table used at NSMC Magnetic Imaging is the first in the Boston area, and the first within the Partners Healthcare Network. This exclusive system uses innovative support and padding which is customized for each patient, allowing patients to feel more at ease during their exam, resulting in more reliable images.
Breast MRI is a valuable tool in the detection of breast cancer and, according to American Cancer Society guidelines, women at high risk for developing breast cancer should include a breast MRI in their yearly breast health screening regimen.
“Having this state-of-the-art breast MRI technology at our fingertips is a valuable service to women in our community,” said Richard Dobrow, M.D., an MRI radiologist at NSMC Magnetic Imaging. “The use of breast MRI in conjunction with mammography has proven highly effective in detecting breast cancer.”
NSMC Magnetic Imaging also has CADstream, which is a computer-aided-detection system designed to analyze the breast MRI. The use of CADstream along with the dedicated breast MRI table by NSMC’s nationally recognized technologists, nurses and radiologists means patients on the North Shore will receive the highest quality breast MRI examination with the greatest amount of patient comfort available.
