NSMC physician, Ernesto Da Silva, M.D., was recently named Community Primary Care Physician of the Year by Partners HealthCare at the Second Annual Primary Care Recognition Dinner on Thursday, March 4, 2010.

Dr. Da Silva, who practices Internal Medicine at North Shore Physicians Group’s 496 Lynnfield Street office in Lynn, was recognized by his colleagues for excellence in clinical care and was acknowledged as a superior clinician and excellent diagnostician.

“Being a physician and caring for the members of my community is such a privilege. I am completely honored to receive this award,” said Dr. Da Silva. “I am also so grateful to work with such dedicated colleagues and staff. We are a strong, supportive team who are committed to serving our community and giving our patients the best possible care.”

The award is issued annually to a single primary care physician from the nearly 1,000 primary care physicians in the Partners HealthCare network, who demonstrates superior clinical and diagnostic skill and consistently receives high scores on patient experience of care surveys. Nominations are submitted by primary care physicians in the Partners HealthCare network.

NSPG staff, including Dr. Da Silva’s office staff, attended the dinner in support of their colleague. To show their overwhelming pride, staff created and wore “Ernesto Rocks” buttons throughout the dinner.

Born and raised in Venezuela, Dr. Da Silva attended the Central University of Venezuela followed by a clinical residency at Metro West Medical Center in Framingham. He also did a clinical fellowship at Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston. In 2000, he joined Essex Medical Associates in Peabody. In 2003, he began working at Charter Professional Services, which is now known as North Shore Physicians Group.

Dr. Da Silva lives in Peabody with his two children.
