NSMC Endoscopy offers comprehensive diagnostic services for gastrointestinal disorders. The term endoscopy encompasses a variety of medical techniques for examining the inside of the body using a lighted, flexible instrument called an endoscope.
The endoscope contains a tiny video camera, which projects images onto a monitor in the procedure room. Endoscopies are performed for the purpose of retrieving tissue samples for further study (biopsies), testing for the presence of bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, removing small growths (polyps), or treating a bleeding ulcer.
Our board-certified physicians and staff at NSMC Salem and Union hospitals provide you with a supportive atmosphere and the greatest possible comfort during and after the procedure. Our facilities feature centralized admitting, treatment and recovery areas, with private, comfortable rooms.
