Main number

Since 1999, NSMC surgeons have performed more than 820 bariatric procedures, making our program the largest and most successful program of its kind on the North Shore.
Two to three years after surgery, the average weight loss for our patients is 109 pounds.
Our program encompasses a thorough evaluation process, a choice of surgical procedures (two of which are minimally invasive) and an extensive post-operative program involving medically supervised cardiac risk reduction, nutrition, exercise, education and peer support.
Download and read our Surgery Guide for Weight Management Patients if you are considering bariatric surgery.
If you are not eligible for surgery (or if surgery is not an appropriate option for you), we are committed to helping you attain your ideal weight and health goals through other measures.
Through our Wellness and Integrative Medicine program we offer classes such as Beyond Dieting and the LEARN program for Weight Loss, which was developed at Yale University and is designed to help participants achieve permanent results.
