We provide comprehensive Maternal-Fetal Medicine services for women experiencing medical complications that deem their pregnancies high-risk.
Our
Maternal-Fetal Medicine program is offered at the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care and is staffed by high-risk obstetricians from Massachusetts General Hospital.
High risk pregnancy services: Amniocentesis
This procedure is generally performed between 16 and 18 weeks gestation to determine potential chromosomal abnormalities and other conditions in the developing fetus.
First Look programThis test is used within the first trimester as a screening tool to identify those babies who are at risk for chromosomal abnormalities.
Genetic counselingA perinatologist/and or genetic counselor reviews with you the risk of your baby inheriting a genetic defect.
Level 2 ultrasound
This very thorough ultrasound is used for cases where there is a potential for genetic defect or an in utero complication for your baby.
