
Hematology services at the NSMC Cancer Center are quite extensive, including outpatient care as well as supportive consultative visits to inpatients at NSMC Salem and Union hospitals. Our consultative services run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Several new physicians trained in hematology have recently joined our staff, thereby expanding our expertise in this critical area of cancer care.
The field of hematology focuses on blood disorders and malignancies related to the blood system. Blood disorders include:
- anemias
- congenital and acquired bleeding disorders (hemostasis)
- certain immune disorders
- related diseases
Hematologic malignancies include:
- acute and chronic leukemia
- Hodgkin’s disease
- non-Hodgkin's lymphoma
- myeloma and related malignant disorders
