Our Cardiac Risk Reduction program is for anyone who has multiple risks for heart disease; it's also for people who already have heart disease and want to prevent further problems.

These risk factors include:

high blood pressure (hypertension)
high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia)
diabetes (Type 1 or 2)
obesity
smoking
depression*
psychosocial stress*

Risk Reduction Program @ a glance

  • Meet once a week for 13 weeks (a session lasts for two-and-half hours)
  • Cardiovascular risk factor evaluation and education
  • Nutrition assessment and education, including computerized analysis of your eating patterns
  • Exercise session and follow-up recommendations based on your stress test
  • Stress management with an emphasis on learning meditation and cognitive behavioral techniques

*The American Journal of Medicine recently published a report showing that exercise training reduces psychosocial stress in patients with coronary artery disease. Depression, hostility and overall stress are risk factors which can be mitigated through exercise.

Additional programs available:

  • A dedicated cardiac maintenance gym --open to program members on a drop-in basis
  • Strong Women Strength Training program – a strength training program specifically geared for the middle-age/older woman
  • Reiki, Yoga, and Pilates classes
  • Personal Training
  • Therapeutic Massage
  • Hypnotherapy for smoking cessation, weight control, or stress management
  • Meditation Program

These programs are designed to educate, motivate and guide you to make the best choices for your heart! We are also available for long-term follow up by individual appointment.
