We have an active pediatric residency program with MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC.) Pediatric residents work under the supervision of attending NSMC physicians in a variety of areas.
- Our Emergency Department cares for more than 16,000 pediatric patients each year. Pediatric residents from MGHfC help evaluate patients and work collaboratively with the NSMC physician on duty.
- MGHfC pediatric residents perform initial work-ups or follow-up care at our outpatient clinics. They work under the supervision of NSMC pediatric physicians specializing in cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, and pulmonary medicine.
- Pediatric residents work closely with community-based pediatricians at our 25-bed pediatric inpatient unit, which admits over 900 children a year. They perform an initial admission evaluation, discuss differential diagnosis, inpatient management, and goals for discharge and discharge planning.
