Spotlight: Partial Knee ResurfacingThere is an advanced, new alternative to total knee replacement surgery. Partial knee resurfacing uniquely preserves bone and ligaments that are otherwise sacrificed during total knee replacement. Because the device used in knee resurfacing does not span the full width of the knee, surgeons do not sacrifice the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments (ACL and PCL) during the surgery. These two ligaments contribute to the normal, stable feeling of your natural knee, whether you’re engaging in rigorous physical activity or simply getting up from a chair.
