Women

Our obstetricians collaborate with Brigham and Women’s Hospital to provide comprehensive Maternal-Fetal Medicine services for women who have medical or pregnancy complications and/or who are considered high risk pregnancies. This specialty program is offered at the NSMC Women's Center in Danvers and is staffed by high-risk obstetricians (perinatologists) from Brigham and Women’s Hospital who work in collaboration with obstetricians from NSMC.

High risk pregnancy services:

Amniocentesis
This procedure is generally performed between 16 and 18 weeks gestation to determine potential chromosomal abnormalities and other conditions in the developing fetus.

First Look program
This test is used within the first trimester as a screening tool to identify those babies who are at risk for chromosomal abnormalities.

Genetic counseling
A perinatologist/and or genetic counselor reviews with you the risk of your baby inheriting a genetic defect.

Level 2 ultrasound
This very thorough ultrasound is used for cases where there is a potential for genetic defect or an in utero complication for your baby.
