Our affiliated OB-GYNs offer combined obstetrical and gynecologic care or gynecologic care only. In all cases, a full range of routine care, as well as procedural and technological interventions, including colposcopy, pelviscopy, and benign gynecologic surgery, is available. We also provide prenatal care through delivery and post-natal assistance for mother and baby.
A key component of our obstetrics program is The Birthplace, a full service maternity center at NSMC Salem Hospital. The Birthplace strives to provide parents and babies with the safest, most positive childbirth experience possible. The Birthplace delivers nearly 2000 babies annually. Newly renovated in 2005, it features 15 private postpartum recovery suites, as well as five labor and delivery rooms, many that offer jacuzzis and whirlpools. The unit is staffed by committed, highly skilled neonatal physicians and nurses, OB-GYNs and certified nurse midwives.
Reproductive Medicine services are available at NSMC Women’s Center in Danvers. The Infertility & Reproductive Medicine program is a satellite facility of the Brigham and Women’s, led by Dr. Mitchell Rein, Vice Chair of OB-GYN at Brigham and Women’s and Chairman of OB-GYN at NSMC.
In collaboration with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, we offer comprehensive Maternal-Fetal Medicine services at the NSMC Women's Center for women who have medical or pregnancy complications and/or who are considered to be high risk pregnancies. Our services include First Look, a screening tool used in the first trimester to identify babies who may be at risk for chromosomal abnormalities.
