Each year NSMC volunteers contribute an average of 70,000 hours of service. They enhance the quality of our care through their work with patients, families, visitors and staff. Volunteers provide services ranging from office work to direct patient care to assisting with fund-raising events.

Every effort is made to place volunteers according to individual interest, skill and time availability. Most choose to contribute their time on a weekly basis, but one-time and special projects/events are available. We place volunteers throughout the North Shore Medical Center. This includes NSMC Salem Hospital, NSMC North Shore Children's Hospital, NSMC Union Hospital in Lynn, NSMC Cancer Center in Peabody and NSMC Women's Center in Danvers. We also place volunteers through Partners HomeCare.

If you are ready to volunteer, you can start by filling out an application. There are volunteer opportunities through the NSMC Salem Hospital campus as well as through NSMC Union Hospital in Lynn.
