Breastfeeding

young mother breastfeeding her newborn
As natural as breastfeeding is, it does require some education and assistance—even for mothers who have already nursed a child before. The Birthplace offers several resources for the breastfeeding mother and baby at every stage of the cycle.

Breastfeeding classes

We offer in-person Breastfeeding Your Baby classes. Visit this page for more information, or email us at SHchildbirthED@mgb.org.

Support group

Our weekly virtual Breastfeeding Support Group meets from 10 - 11 a.m., on Fridays via Zoom. This group caters to moms who are looking for mother-to-mother support or have questions about breastfeeding and are looking for answers.

Our lactation specialists guide you through breastfeeding, address your concerns and answer questions. Breastfeeding moms and babies and pregnant mothers are welcome to attend. For more information, please email us or call 978-354-3909.

Lactation consultation

Our International Board Certified lactation specialists provide on-site consultation seven days a week. They create individual breastfeeding plans and offer private office consultations regarding position and latch on, breast or nipple soreness, and assistance with twins, premature infants or babies with challenges.
