Surgical Oncology

Surgical oncology at hospital near Boston
For many of our patients, surgery is an important part of the cancer treatment plan. At the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center, each patient’s care team includes exceptional surgeons who have extensive experience in using the latest surgical techniques to treat cancer. These include minimally-invasive and laparoscopic techniques, which help reduce post-operative scarring and pain, and innovative procedures designed to save as much healthy tissue as possible, including sphincter-sparing surgery for many types of colon cancer.
Surgeries that do not require an overnight stay are performed at our adjacent Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers.

If patients are required to stay overnight, they are admitted to NSMC Salem Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where experienced oncology care teams provide supportive, exceptional care.
