Imaging Prior Authorization
Salem Hospital, a member of Mass General Brigham, is pleased to provide prior authorization services for all eligible imaging ordered by providers referring to us. This service is complimentary and is available to all ordering providers.
A team of Prior Authorization specialists will obtain and document prior authorization numbers in Epic from every insurance company for the following outpatient exams referred to Salem Hospital Radiology:
- CT
- MRI
- Nuclear Cardiology
This service is available for all Salem Hospital Imaging locations. It does not apply to inpatient imaging, interventional radiology or certain exams that use specialized tracers.
As part of our department's ongoing commitment to reducing administrative burden, the team aims to save time by streamlining requests for clinical information and decreasing billing issues. However, Salem Hospital Patient Access Services cannot guarantee that imaging services will be covered and will notify you prior to the scheduled appointment time if coverage has been denied has been received or a peer-to-peer review has been requested.
