What's happening in Lynn

When the new Emergency Department and private patient rooms open in Salem on November 3, NSMC will consolidate all inpatient and acute emergency care from Salem and Union hospitals to the Salem facility.

At that time, the former Union Hospital Emergency Department will close on November 3 and transition to an Urgent Care Center on November 4. The center will be open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., to care for less serious conditions and injuries, from allergies and colds to sprains and scrapes.

Services currently available on the Union Hospital Campus will also remain there, including the North Shore Physicians Group primary/specialty care practice, NSMC Outpatient Behavioral Health, imaging services such as mammography, x-ray, ultrasound, blood drawing and other services.

In the Spring of 2020, NSMC will open NSMC-Lynn, a 40,000 square foot building, currently under construction on the NSMC Union Hospital Campus. Once completed, it will provide a new home for the urgent care service, as well as the North Shore Physicians Group primary/specialty care practice, NSMC Outpatient Behavioral Health, imaging services and blood drawing.

With this facility, the services that Lynn patients use most, will remain available on the Union Campus.
