Continuing Education

Free continuing education credit (CEU) programs are offered through the Center for Clinical and Professional Development. The Center is located on the ground floor of 55 Highland Hall (Salem campus) and manages all ongoing and continuing education. ANCC Medical Surgical Nursing Review Course for Certification

This two-day course is designed as an educational session to prepare participants for the American Nurses Credentialing Center Medical Surgical Nursing board certification exam.

NSMC nurses are able to take continuing education classes through the CCPD. These classes include:

  • Advanced Assessment Class
  • Beyond the Basics – 12 Lead EKG Interpretation Class
  • Skills Fairs
  • Telemetry Class

In order to earn a CEU, nursing staff must attend the entire event and submit a completed evaluation form at the conclusion of the program.  To find out more, call 978.354.3027.


HealthStream is an online learning system offering hundreds of elective courses that NSMC clinical staff nurses can take to learn or reinforce their skills and abilities. HealthStream is used for mandatory education, roll-out of hospital initiatives and other courses that teach safe and effective care of patients and their families.
