Meet an NSMC Nurse

It only took two days working as an observer in an operating room for Erin Taylor, D.N.P., Director of the Operating Room, to learn that her dream job was working as a nurse. It only took one moment for her to realize that NSMC was where she belonged.

Erin began her career at Brigham and Women's Hospital and worked at several Massachusetts hospitals before joining the NSMC team. During her career she's developed a passion for working in the OR and working as an educator. In 2016, she accepted the opportunity to pursue both passions working as a NSMC Staff Educator for Perioperative Services in the operating room.

Her transition to NSMC was easy due to her former experience at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. NSMC is a member of the Mass General Brigham network, which means both hospitals share the same standards, processes, procedures and electronic medical record.

At the same time, she quickly bonded with staff and soon felt like an integral part of the NSMC family. She's enjoyed working alongside a dedicated team of hardworking and caring individuals to improve the lives of many North Shore patients and families.

Since joining NSMC, she has been promoted to Director of the Operating Room. Erin describes the OR as a “well-oiled machine”. “It runs like a big city hospital, just smaller in scale.”

She also loves working with the newest technology that NSMC offers, including its Robotic Surgery Program, the first and only program of its kind on the North Shore.

Erin is committed to giving back to nursing by supporting the NSMC PeriOp program which allows new nurses a year-long hands-on training program to become an OR nurse.
