The largest cardiology practice on the North Shore, North Shore Cardiovascular Associates, has joined North Shore Physicians Group (NSPG), the largest multi-specialty practice north of Boston affiliated with North Shore Medical Center (NSMC).

Cardiologists at the practice are experts in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiac and vascular disorders. They also perform procedures at the NSMC Heart Center and at the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers.

Physicians and nurse practitioners in the practice include Raabia Ahmad, M.D., Mark Anderson, M.D., Lawrence Block, M.D., Ibrahim Domian, M.D., Marc Forgione, M.D., Michael Goldstein, M.D., David Kahn, M.D., Michael Katcher, M.D., Steven Kurzrok, M.D., Mario Motta, M.D., David Rabin, M.D., David Roberts, M.D., Nathan Van Houzen, M.D., Howard Waldman M.D., Ph.D., Jeanne Benoit, N.P., Kristina Cliffe, N.P., and Lisa Contis, N.P.

“We recognized an ideal opportunity to bring these experienced and very talented cardiac specialists together with our NSPG primary and specialty care physicians to benefit our patients,” said Steven Kapfhammer, President of NSPG. “Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings together, they can provide more coordinated care for patients, enhancing both quality and patient satisfaction.” 

With the addition of the new specialty practice, cardiology services will greatly expand for patients on the North Shore. Current patients of North Shore Cardiovascular Associates will continue to receive the same high-quality cardiology care that they have become accustomed to, including the use of Partners HealthCare’s electronic medical records and secure online access to patient information through the online patient portal, Patient Gateway.

The existing cardiology practices in Salem and Danvers will assume the name North Shore Physicians Group Cardiovascular Medicine and remain at their current locations: 81 Highland Ave., Axelrod 5 in Salem, 331 Highland Ave. in Salem and 102 Endicott Street at the Mass General/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers. Phone numbers, office hours and procedures will remain the same. Physicians from this practice will also begin seeing patients at NSPG’s Rowley location at 414 Haverhill Street in March.
