On Saturday, May 19, as part of the Living Green Fair, Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll and Representative John Keenan recognized NSMC and 34 other local organizations for participating in the third annual Green Salem Business Challenge. NSMC was awarded “Seedling” status for its expanding efforts to incorporate green practices into every day operations as a way to lessen its environmental impact on the community.

Participants in the Green Salem Business Challenge are each evaluated on their progress in the following sustainable categories: education and awareness; energy conservation and renewable energy; water conservation, resource management; transportation; green cleaning and maintenance; and product/service offerings.

The Green Salem Business Challenge is a joint partnership of the Salem Chamber of Commerce, SalemRecycles, Salem Renewable Energy Task Force and North Shore Transportation Management Association. For more information, please visit www.Salem.org and greensalem.org.
