About the blasts
When blasting is taking place, it is for the excavation of rock ledge as part of our construction project. Blasts - each a few seconds in duration - will take place 2 or 3 times per day and may cause vibration or noise. There is no cause for alarm.
The blasts are deeper but still within accepted, specified and approved limits of vibration/ energy transmission. Every blast is monitored with seismographic equipment and overseen by not only a certified blasting agent but also the Salem Fire Department and NSMC’s project management team.
There will be warning horns 5 minutes before and 1 minute before each blast, and an all clear blast afterwards.
We apologize in advance for this disruption.
All blasting related to the central utility plant has been successfully completed.
