Support Groups

Commitment to attend our support groups is a unique feature of our program and a key factor in the success of our patients. Group meetings allow you to learn about the surgery first hand from others who have had it. Support group meetings also provide education, and nutritional and medical advice. Periodic guest speakers expand your knowledge on obesity surgery-related topics.

Pre-surgery and less than 6 months post-surgery support group

This is a peer support group where you can ask questions and meet  patients who have gone through our surgical program, as well as meet other patients who are just starting the process.

  • All patients are required to attend at least one pre-surgery support group prior to being scheduled for surgery.
  • Patients are welcome to attend as many pre-surgery support groups as they like
  • Patients are encouraged to bring a family member or friend to hear other patients describe their experiences, to ask questions, and to understand more fully the commitment required.
