North Shore Medical Center’s Birthplace offers complete family-focused care from the early pregnancy through labor, delivery, and after you return home. Our board-certified obstetricians, anesthesiologists, experienced nurses, certified nurse midwives, and neonatologists work as a team to assist patients with the entire labor and recovery process. We are experienced with high-risk pregnancies and equally skilled at addressing the concerns of first-time mothers. Our obstetricians and neonatologists are on staff at both North Shore Medical Center and Massachusetts General Hospital and follow the same high standards for care. Learn more

To improve the health and safety of mothers and babies, NSMC has reduced the percentage of its early elective newborn deliveries (at 37-39 weeks via Caesarean section or induction) from 31.6% in 2010 to 1.6% in 2011. National rates average 14%. Read more
