Trauma Center

The NSMC Trauma Center treats patients with the most critical injuries. We offer exceptional 24-hours-a-day on-site trauma care. Our multidisciplinary Trauma Team team includes highly trained trauma/ acute care surgeons, emergency department physicians, radiologists, hospitalists and intensivists, as well as nurses and other dedicated staff members.

Level III Trauma Center Certification

NSMC has been certified a Level III Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons. Level III certification recognizes our ability to provide optimal care for critically injured patients. It reflects the ongoing hard work and commitment of physicians, caregivers and staff, and is also a reminder of the vitally important life-saving resources that the entire NSMC family provides to our community.

Participation in the State and Regional Trauma System

NSMC's Trauma Center works closely with state and regional agencies on injury prevention programs and education.

Evidence-based clinical care guidelines

NSMC healthcare professionals are guided by evidence-based clinical care guidelines and policies as they care for trauma patients, including activation procedures for the Trauma Team for the most seriously injured patients. These are available on the NSMC intranet's clinical guidelines page.
