Marblehead Physician Named Community Clinician of the Year

Salem, Mass. – Marblehead resident and North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) physician Marc D. Levine, M.D., has been honored as the 2011 Community Clinician of the Year by his physician peers of the Essex South District Medical Society.

The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community and who stands out as a leading advocate and caregiver. The Essex South District has nearly 700 physician members who work or live in the communities of southern Essex County.

Dr. Levine, a board-certified pediatrician, is part of the NSMC medical staff and is a physician at the Lynn Community Health Center, where he has practiced since 1984. A graduate of Columbia College and Brandeis University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics, he earned his medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 1980, where he received the school’s Behavioral Sciences Award. He is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. In 1994 was named the Massachusetts Community Health Center Clinician of the Year.
