Outstanding Nurses Awarded at North Shore Medical Center

North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) recently honored six of its registered nurses and caregivers for outstanding service and clinical excellence.

The Broadhead Clinical Excellence Award (BCEA)

Gary Lambert, R.N., Salem Hospital, resides in South Hamilton, Mass.
Donna Abu-Sabra, R.N., staff nurse, Union Hospital, resides in Lynn, Mass.

The BCEA is given in honor of Eleanor Broadhead, who endowed the Broadhead Program for Excellence in Nursing in 1995, in memory of her sister, Elizabeth, who volunteered as a nurse during World War II. Recipients are recognized for achievements in clinical nurse practice, professional development and promotion of NSMC’s patient care mission. The BCEA was presented to two nurses, one from NSMC Salem Hospital, and one from NSMC Union Hospital.

NSMC Nursing Leadership Award (NLA)

Robert Ferdinand, B.S.N., R.N., C.R.N.I., nurse director, Salem Hospital, resides in Hudson, N.H.
Nancy Hassan, M.S.N., R.N., clinical nurse educator, Salem Hospital, resides in Peabody, Mass.

NSMC NLA honors NSMC nurse mangers that exemplify the professional nurse and advance the organizational values of patient care quality and employee satisfaction through their managerial and leadership skills.

Donald W. Blodgett Exemplary Service Award (DBESA)

Karen Correnti, R.N., staff nurse, Salem Hospital, resides in Ipswich Mass.
Maxine Robinson, nursing assistant, Salem Hospital, resides in Lynn, Mass.

Nominated by their peers, the recipients of the 12th annual DBESA demonstrate extraordinary service to their patients, families and nursing colleagues. This award honors the late Donald W. Blodgett, who served as an NSMC trustee for 30 years.
