Robotic surgery urologist at Salem Hospital

Urology surgeons evaluate and treat a range of prostate and urologic disorders in adult patients. Our team is board certified and includes experts in minimally-invasive surgical techniques, such as laparoscopic, endoscopic, extracorporeal and percutaneous approaches.

We are the only hospital on the North Shore to offer robotic surgery as a surgical option for many urologic conditions. Many of our urology surgeons also work side-by-side with Massachusetts General Hospital surgeons in a collaborative urology practice at the Mass General/ North Shore Center for Outpatient Care in Danvers. All urologists in this practice are on the medical staffs at both Salem Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

About robotic urologic surgery

During robotic surgery, a trained surgeon operates robotic arms from a console that provides intricate 3D images of the surgical site. The robot is a remote extension of the surgeon’s own hands with its instrumentation that enables finer access, maneuverability and technical precision. Advantages of robotic surgery include smaller incisions, reduced pain and discomfort and a faster recovery. Learn more
