Nuclear Medicine radiology physicians at North Shore Medical Center provide all state-of-the-art nuclear medicine examinations, including sentinel node localization for breast cancer and skin cancer surgery, three-phase parathyroid scanning and tumor receptor imaging. The North Shore PET Imaging Center is a joint venture between North Shore Medical Center and Northeast Health Systems, Inc.

Nuclear Medicine Services

  • Computer assisted functional imaging
  • SPECT- CT (Single Photo Emission Computed Tomography) fused with localizing CT at NSMC Salem and Union Hospitals
  • Radionuclide therapy including: radioactive iodine therapy for thyroid, Zevalintherapy and Samarium-153 therapy
  • Molecular imaging/PET CT (Positron Emission Tomography)

SPECT exams are available at NSMC Union and Salem Hospitals.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET)

The PET exam is the most technologically advanced nuclear medicine procedure. It shows cellular function and metabolism, rather than the anatomy of the body’s structures that traditional X-ray, CT and MRI imaging shows. To shedule an exam, please call 978.882.6161.
